| dc.description.abstract | Purpose: To study the results of surgical treatment of traumatic retinal detachment (TrRD) complicated by proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), by combining vitrectomy (VE) with circular episcleral buckling ECB. Material and methods: A retrospective analysis of cases of TrRD complicated by PVR in 34 patients (34 eyes), 27 men and 7 women, aged from 24 to 73 years, 42.3±1.9 years on average, was conducted. The limitation of the eye trauma was: up to 1 month - 15 patients (44.12%), 1-3 months - 12 patients (35.29%), more than 3 months - 7 patients (20.59%). Blunt eye trauma was in 20 patients (58.82%), open trauma of eye - in 9 patients (26.47%), with intraocular foreign body - in 5 patients (14.71%). Before the surgery, visual acuity (VA) was 0.01-0.07 in 19 patients (55.88%), correct light perception - in 7 patients (20.59), incorrect light perception - in 7 patients (20.59%), no light perception - in 1 patient (2.94%). One-stage VE and ECB were performed in 7 patients (20.59%), ECB as the second stage after VE was performed in 24 patients (70.59%), and VE as the second stage after ECB - in 3 patients (8.82%). The results of the performed surgery were evaluated according to the anatomical (retinal attachment) and functional (maximum corrected visual acuity) results. Results: A positive anatomical result was achieved in 28 (82.35%) of 34 patients. In 5 eyes (14.71%), repeated VE was performed for relapse of RD within 5-6 months. VA improved in all patients. Correct light perception - in 7 patients (20.59%), 0.02-0.05 - in 7 patients (20.59%), 0.1-0.3 - in 20 patients (58.82%). Conclusions: Surgical treatment of TrRD by combining VE with ECB is appropriate and effective in the presence of PVR in patients with the outcomes of eye trauma. | |
